It was always going to be a tight first few minutes as both teams jostled for possesion. Oakengates came out on top with the midfield players getting the better of their opposition. With Liam and Thomas.O tracking back on the flanks to provide support to the rock solid trio of Matty, Jamie and Steve in defence. Joe worked his magic in midfield an Rangers began to pass the ball around to great effect, TWE worked hard up front creating some great space and had a couple of early opportunities. After 15 minutes the Madeley goalie cleared his line, Thomas Onions had a great first touch and after looking up he fired a great shot into the top of the net .... 1-0!
The second half began in the same way, Rangers quickly got to grips with the midfield again with Jack putting in some crunching tackles and Josh T making the running up front. Madeley made some good headway on a couple of occasions but Stevie and Jamie were both well positioned to deal with the threat. A danger moment occured midway through the second half when Madeley won a free kick 15 yards out ... a great shot from the Madeley midfielder was pushed high by Matty and saved securely. Rangers created the best chances of the half with Jack and Liam both going close. Final score ... a well deserved 1-0 victory!

Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
